Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic exercise has long been available at indoor community pools and gyms with temperatures in the mid 80's and outdoors where colder water makes it uncomfortable to exercise during winter months. These pools are often crowded, with little space for walking or exercise since the focus tends to be on lap swimming. The focus of most gym aquatic programs is on structured exercise classes that may not appeal to everyone.

Heated Pool

WaveFit provides a dedicated space for individuals to ambulate and train in the therapeutic environment of a 90 degree heated indoor pool. WaveFit offers the opportunity for resistance training with sport cords, water dumbbells, and flotation devices. WaveFit also provides pool space to work on balance and an opportunity to float with belts/noodles for complete decompression of all joints and spine for pain relief.

Meet the Staff

Alisa Eischen

DPT and Owner

Alisa Eischen, founder and owner of WaveFit, has been a practicing physical therapist specializing in orthopedic disorders since 1991. She was a volleyball player for the University of Southern California (USC). During her athletic career she sustained 6 knee surgeries. Through both her professional and personal experiences, Alisa has developed an appreciation for the benefits water exercise offers in pain reduction and injury recovery.

During her work as a clinical faculty member for the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, Alisa frequently used a warm water therapeutic pool in treating patients at Orthopaedic Hospital. The pool proved to be highly beneficial to people with a variety of issues ranging from post-joint surgery recovery to pain management and preventive care. Later in her career as Director of Physical Therapy at Torrance Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Group, she brought the benefits of aquatic therapy to patients by renting a pool at South Bay Aquatics.

Alisa is an avid local South Bay surfer who also enjoys bike riding, skiing, and traveling to surf destinations with her friends and family. Alisa is passionate about bringing the benefits of both land and aquatic based physical therapy as well as aquatic exercise to the general public in an accessible and affordable way.

Joseph Wren

PTA

Joseph Wren is a Physical Therapist Assistant at WaveFit Physical Therapy. He graduated with his B.S. in Kinesiology in 2013 from California State University, Fullerton. After obtaining his degree, he worked as a physical therapy aide for 2 years gaining experience in treating patients with orthopedic disorders with both land and pool based exercise programs. This is when he developed a passion for physical therapy and decided to go back to school to pursue a career in the field. He graduated from the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Concorde Career College, Garden Grove in 2016.

Prior to college, Joey served in the Marine Corps for 5 years where he developed a dependable work ethic. He enjoys finding ways to better and challenge himself. He has been training and competing in Jiu Jitsu for 12 years and is currently a brown belt. Joey also has a soft side; he loves Jack Russell Terriers, and has 3 named Barley, Kimura , and Lorde.

Carlos Leos

Physical Therapy Aide

Born and raised in Southern California, Carlos is a Spanish speaker and major sports fan. His favorite teams include the Dodgers, USC, and the Raiders. As someone who played sports growing up, Carlos can really relate to the patients and their goals of recovering. Patients always appreciate his patient and calm nature. In his spare time he enjoys practicing Jiu Jitsu. He loves assisting Wavefit’s physical therapy patients both in and out of the pool. He looks forward to growing his career and is currently pursuing his sports medicine degree.

Margie Provine

Aquatic Fitness Instructor

A true California girl with a lifelong passion for Fitness, Margie loves running and beach volleyball. She enjoys exercising and all the benefits it offers. She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and has been teaching for over 15 years in the Torrance area. Her mother’s back surgery propelled her to join the Wavefit team as she felt compelled to work with patients to support their journey toward healthy bodies and minds.

Jeannette Hairston

Director of Operations and Billing

As Director of Operations for WaveFit, Jeannette brings a super-sunny disposition to the business along with over 25 years of experience working in billing. Previously, she managed a large orthopedic group. She lives in the South Bay area and loves being a part of the local community. When she’s not working, she loves traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, and will always take an opportunity to spend the day relaxing poolside or at the beach.
